Student Is In Jail After Posing As A Bomb-making Manual As Minecraft Guide


A teenager from South East London has been jailed for sharing a bomb-making instruction manual online, disguised as a tutorial for the game of video games that is so popular Minecraft.



Connor Burke, 19, A London student at a London university, shared the manual, which included instructions on how to make improvised explosive devices (IEDs), on Telegram to a group that includes around 12,000 users.



After tracking him through his social media accounts The police were able to arrest Burke at his family home in Bexleyheath and found additional documents related to terrorism on his devices, Woolwich Crown Court heard.



The court was also told that a search of his bedroom found a copy of Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf and The Anarchist Cookbook. These books provided advice on building explosives.



He pleaded guilty to disseminating an article of terror and four counts of possessing an item that is likely to be useful to someone planning or committing an act of terrorism at a hearing scheduled for July 2021.



He was sentenced by Woolwich Crown Court for a total of 42-months imprisonment and 12 months on licence.
